Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to our frequently asked questions page. Here we've gathered together some of the most popular concerns and queries raised by our customers, which hopefully will help you to understand the possibilities and limitations offered by 3D visualisation. However, if you don't see one which answers your question, or if you have a more in-depth or specific queries then drop us a line or call us 07815134494.

What are the benefits?

Interactive 3D Design and Visualisation gives customers greater emotional attachment to the products they choose, and are less likely to talk themselves out of a sale. Viewing products in context allows them to have a greater confidence in purchasing decisions. Visualisation allows for a far greater assortment of products to be displayed than conventional photography. In many cases, the permutations and combinations of product configurations are such that there is no practical way to show a customer exactly what they are getting without some form of visualisation.
Once the drawings have been completed the client can ‘see’ the finished product and make a completely informed decision. See our process explained section for more detail on how we achieve this.

We’ve never needed it before - why do we need it now?

Visualisation is critical to almost every business. In consumer-level businesses, it is difficult to imagine any transaction occurring without the buyer seeing the product being purchased. In the case of technical businesses, visualisation plays a key role in translating complex data in to a form that is readily consumable by a non-technical person. Visual presentations involving mock-ups, sketches, material samples and so on, are only a substitute for the real thing. The quality of the visual presentation is enhanced enormously by having photo realistic images and animation's of the product. The possibilities of using these images to sell "online", or even face to face are enormous. (back to top)

Don’t you need to be good at drawing?

Not at all. We can work from a simple sketch or engineering/architectural drawings, so long as the drawing conveys the information required. To avoid the misinterpretation of any aspect of the drawing we will certainly clarify any uncertainties of it with you before modelling commences and provide you with test renderings of the object to you for inspection (See the process explained first glimpse). If the product is similar or uses materials/finishes akin to those already produced, samples or photographs of these will enable us to achieve the desired result quicker. (back to top)

Isn’t it quite expensive and time consuming?

Not at all. Here at Flux3D we believe are prices are the best, while still remaining a high standard of quality. All of the examples, in each section, have the time taken and the cost of the piece to produce. This ‘guide’ only includes the production of the piece, not printing, animation, alterations and so on. Each project is unique and has to be based on drawings of a certain standard. Obviously the more information the drawings convey, especially if they include samples of colour and finish and images of previous work which may have similar aspects, the more accurate the models will be. Please e-mail us if you have any further concerns. (Back to top)

What if I need to change the design half way through? Do we have to start from scratch?

There is no reason to start from scratch with any project unless the alterations warrant a completely new beginning. Obviously it is best to let us know of any alterations to be made as soon as possible but we will keep in contact with you and provide you with the first test image upon which decisions can be made. This new media is just a flash in the pan!

The history of computer visualisation spans back over 30 years or more. Through this time it has grown to become one of the most important developments in design and industry, and as time goes by will become a standard process within the design industry. (Back to top)

Do I need to have a powerful computer to see the images?

The images can be provided in any format, e.g. JPEG, BITMAP, TIFF and produced to your exact specification, depending on your system. We can also print the final images to any size and onto any media, so you don't even need a computer! (back to top)

Can the model be used for rapid prototyping?

The models created can indeed be used for rapid prototyping. The files we produce can be easily converted into files for stereo-lithography, CAD/CAM, milling and so on. For more information visit the ‘further possibilities’ section of the web site. (Back to top)

What formats?

The final model can be used for posters, catalogues, web sites, rapid prototyping animation and so on. We can also supply images in any format you require, JPEG, AVI, GIF, BMP ect. For more information please visit the ‘further possibilities' section. (Back to top)

Can I move the model around for my clients to see?

The model can be animated so it can be viewed from any angle, rotated, zoom in and out but this is not viewing the object freely. Due to the complexity of the models it is not possible to see them in real time. For more information please see the animation section of the web site. (Back to top)

What formats?

The final model can be used for posters, catalogues, web sites, rapid prototyping animation and so on. We can also supply images in any format you require, JPEG, AVI, GIF, BMP ect. For more information please visit the ‘further possibilities' section. (Back to top)

What are my rights? What about copyright?

All copyrights for the designs visualised by us are retained by you. All work, visualisations and other work done by us remains ours until payment, although we retain the right to utilise any images ect for promotional material ect. All designs, conversations and drawings remains confidential between Flux 3D and you unless other wise stated. (Back to top

My client wants to see my work in an environment e.g. room?

Any environment can be created for the work to be seen in, for example Architecture in the location, lighting in a room, jewellery on a figure and so on. The possibilities are truly limitless and offer a great opportunity for company logos, presentations and mock ups. (Back to top)

Can you do any material?

At present hair/fur and folds of fabric are difficult to recreate within computer graphics. Flat areas of fabric are relatively easy to represent but the dynamics of the fabric become hard to reproduce when it is draped over an object or folded. The different sections of the web site include materials such as Diamonds, sandblasted Perspex, Church Interior, candle wax and flame. If you have a particular material or effect you wish to recreate and have doubts if it will be possible, please contact us and we will be glad to advise.(Back to top)

How do I print them out?

We can provide you with the work in the format that you require, whether you are intending to produce catalogues, posters, web sites, animated displays and so on. If you do not have the facilities to do printing yourself we can produce the work and have it discretely delivered to your address. If you require any information or advice about the end product please visit the further possibilities section or contact us. (Back to top)

Can I animate the model?

The answer to this is quite simply YES! This is a fantastic opportunity to promote your work for an animated display or walkthrough and can certainly include any additional imagery such as company logo’s and product information. For examples of animation of some of the products from Flux 3D visit our Animation section or Contact Us for more information. (Back to top)

My work is too traditional for the process!

No product is too traditional for 3d visualisation, no matter what you’re product might be you will still need to communicate you’re ideas effectively. At Flux3D we can visualisation any idea, be it traditional, innovative or just plain wacky. (Back to top)

We have all of our products, why would we want them modelled?

Even if a product already exists in reality the potential that 3d visualisation offers to alter, manipulate and even Animate it are enormous. (Back to top)

I won’t understand the computer jargon!

Throughout the whole process we will talk to you without any technical jargon unless you are interested in hearing it. We are not interested in trying to impress you with ‘computer talk’ only providing a useful service. (Back to top)
